15 Miles on the Erie Canal
NBCB is excited to announce our next Expedition Series of 2024:
15 Miles On the Erie Canal
Join us on April 16 for a journey along the historic Erie Canal. Artist Marie Lorenz will share her experience paddling and rowing from Buffalo to New York City in 2017.
Marie will be joined by Patterson Beckwith, Mark Anderson, Nancy Nowacek, Marie Warsh, and Moses Gates, who accompanied her on sections of this remarkable 520-mile expedition.
For 30-years, Marie Lorenz has navigated urban waterways in custom built boats. Her ongoing ‘Tide and Current Taxi’ project transports passengers through New York City using tidal currents to propel the boat. Each trip is documented online, drawing a parallel between tidal networks and new digital pathways. “Floating with the tide challenges my participants to see the city in a new light.”
Please join us for a great night of storytelling, adventure and navigation.
RSVP is not required, but it would be appreciated.
This event is FREE. Donations to NBCB will be accepted.
All are welcome. You DO NOT have to be an NBCB member to attend.
