Conquering the Kayak Roll
Despite being an active NBCB member for 10-years, and an advanced kayaker, Tania’s first attempt at rolling only happened this winter. A kayak roll is when a paddler uses their body motion (and or a paddle), to right themselves after capsizing, and without leaving the boat.
Thinking it was a complicated maneuver that required more skills than she had, Tania had always been intimidated by rolling. But, after a few weeks of practice at some indoor pool sessions, she realized just how wrong she was.
In this video, you’ll see Tania accomplish rolling her kayak - a particularly rewarding feat because it happened after cancer forced her to take a break from the sport.
This video was shot and edited by Javier Castaño.
