Unwarranted & Potentially Dangerous Aeration Program Set to Expand
For some time, serious concerns about the implementation and expansion of the Newtown Creek Aeration Program have been raised the North Brooklyn Boat Club, Newtown Creek Alliance, and Riverkeeper. The NYC DEP program carries both troublesome health risks and a huge price tag.
Several private meetings with city official have had no impact. Thursday night is one of the first public meetings.
We need your help, or this program will be rolled out, as is.
COME TO MEETING THURSDAY NIGHT: The CB2 offices are at 43-22 50th St., second floor in Woodside. The meeting starts at 7:00 and should last about an hour. Details here. (Car pooling from the boatyard is being organized. If you have a car, or need a ride please let us know via email.)
Newtown Creek Alliance has a posting that highlights the most recent concerns and requests. Please read it for background – the link is here.

SAVE BUSHWICK INLET PARK!
We Must Save Bushwick Inlet Park!
#wheresourpark ?
The Emergency Meeting on Thursday (graciously hosted by OSA) was a great success! People are fired up!
NEXT STEP: Come to the Organizational Meeting to SAVE Bushwick Inlet Park: Monday Feb 16, 7:30pm @ Dirk the Norseman, Kent/N15
Bring ideas, resources, or just friends – and we’ll get to work!
The children of North Brooklyn have less open space than nearly all others in the city. With recent water-front development that will get even worse. Bushwick Inlet Park was one of the only reasons our community agreed to water front rezoning and development, and now it’s time for the city to make good on its pledge.
