Double the Public Paddling Pleasure in August

We’ve received a lot of great feedback about our free Public Paddle Series, so we’re doing it twice in August!

On Saturday Aug 12, from 1-4pm, NBCB is offering free kayak trips on Newtown Creek from MASE Park (1205 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11222). You do not need to be a member but for this event only, you will need to pre-register by getting free tickets on Eventbrite.

The kayak trips will be approximately 30 minutes long and will use sit-on-top kayaks which seat 1 or 2 people. These are our beginner boats, they don't require skirts and are very stable. It's not our sit-in-deck boats that some of you are familiar with. But they're a lot of fun!

There is a minimum height requirement of 4'10" in order to ensure the kayak will remain balanced.

And please keep in mind, you will get wet!

On Saturday Aug 19, from 12-4pm, we will be offering our free Public Paddle series again, but this time with our big, 29' Langley canoes.

Launching from the same location at MASE Park, the event will feature canoe tours with views of Manhattan, tasty beverages and snacks, and friends and neighbors gathering together on the shores of Newtown Creek.

For the canoe Public Paddle, you DO NOT need to pre-register, just show up!

We are also looking for volunteers! If you’re interested please email contact@nbcboathouse.org.

No experience is necessary.

Public Paddles are the heart of North Brooklyn Community Boathouse, a chance to show the community that the waters belong to all of us and to help our friends and neighbors find the same joy in paddling that we all know.

Please see our calendar for all the details.
