Public Paddle 2023 Schedule Announced!

Our first Public Paddle of 2023 will be May 27, 2023 12-4 PM at Manhattan Avenue Street End Park, Greenpoint, Brooklyn!

The Public Paddles let NBCB do what we do best: fulfill our mission to enable access to the waterways of New York City for our local community. They are the heart of North Brooklyn Community Boathouse, a chance to show the community that the waters belong to all of us and the help our friends and neighbors find the same joy in paddling that we all know.

As we continue to wait for the construction to finish on the NBCB  boathouse, this community event will take place at Manhattan Avenue Street End Park, just one block away in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

We hope to make these events real community gatherings. We will be in a public park, and we will once again set up the Community Reflection Station so that participants and volunteers can contribute to the day.

We'll have canoe tours with views of Manhattan, tasty beverages and snacks on hand, and friends and neighbors gathering together on the shores of Newtown Creek.

The event runs 12-4.  We invite you to join your neighbors in one of our 29' Langley canoes and to spend some time on land, meeting your neighbors and participating in the Community Reflection Station.

We ask that all attendees be vaccinated against COVID-19. Please stay home if you are feeling ill. If you are worried you are sick and need help, please see NYC's COVID Resources Guide here.

If you're interested in volunteering to help out and learn more about NBCB, email us at contact@nbcboathouse.org.

We hope to see you there, but if you can’t make it, our next Public Paddles are:

  • June 17th, MASE Park, 12-4pm Juneteenth Celebration

  • Saturday, July 15, 12-4 PM City of Water Day: New special location!

  • Saturday, August 19, 12-4 PM

  • Saturday, September 23, 12-4 PM
