Next Public Paddle is October 15, 2022

And we hope to see you there!

As we are unable to use the NBCB boatyard, this community event will take place at Manhattan Avenue Street End Park, just one block away in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

The Public Paddles let NBCB do what we do best: fulfill our mission to enable access to the waterways of New York City for our local community.

We’ll have canoe tours with views of Manhattan, tasty beverages and snacks on hand, and friends and neighbors gathering together on the shores of Newtown Creek.

The event runs 12-4. We have only one of our 29′ Langley canoes available for this Public Paddle, so anticipate some time on land, meeting your neighbors and participating in the Community Reflection Station.

We ask that all attendees be vaccinated against COVID-19. Please stay home if you are feeling ill. If you are worried you are sick and need help, please see NYC’s Covid Resources Guide here.

If you’re interested in volunteering to help out and learn more about NBCB, please use the “Register” button on the Calendar page.

Paddle instruction before hitting the water!

Public paddles are free and open to everyone. We especially hope to welcome our Greenpoint neighbors and members of other community organizations. Come down to the park and talk to your neighbors. Together, let’s learn more about Greenpoint’s history, environmental challenges and successes, and residents. Get out on the water and see the neighborhood as you never have before!

Got it?

We can’t wait to see you!

Blue skies, full boats–can’t lose!

NBCB sincerely thanks the Greenpoint Community Environment Fund and the Office of the New York State Attorney General and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for financial support for our Public Paddle series.
